Cohere is a Canadian AI company founded in 2019 by former Google Brain researchers, including Aidan Gomez, one of the co-authors of the original Transformer paper. Unlike OpenAI or Anthropic, Cohere focuses squarely on enterprise customers. Their products include Command (language generation), Embed (embeddings for search), Rerank (improving search results), and tooling for building production AI systems.
